Has anyone else’s kids had incident in daycare?

My son recently graduated to the preschool room in his daycare. Hes only ever had minor incident such as falling with a small cut etc.
Hes in an awesome daycare and always been happy. But today I was called because apparently he walked away from the lunch table for a split second and stuffed extra food in his mouth, causing him to choke, going pale. The teacher took it out immediately with 3 back blows and scooping it out of his mouth and hes fine now, but Im soo shaken up right now.
I know and understand it can happen to anyone anywhere. Im just really shaken up and not sure if I should go the extreme and take him out of school or whatnot.
Theyve always been so good so im just torn right now and really shaken up.

Here’s the thing. Your son walked away from his table so he could shove food in his mouth. Before he actually started even “choking” hard core (ie, needing Heimlich maneuver) the teacher pulled the food out of his mouth, and CALLED YOU so that you’d be aware, probably more so you could keep an eye out for him at home when he eats. That is really impressive as a lot of daycares wouldn’t bother telling a parent if there wasn’t a physical mark on a child. I don’t even see this as a mistake on the daycare. I see this as a kid being a kid and them keeping good surveillance so they were able to nip a potential emergency situation in the butt before it became an emergency.

Sounds like an honest mistake. The teacher seemed to have caught in time and help. This sort of thing could have easily happened at home too so I don't think it'd be fair to blame them and react in a sense of removing him. It's hard to come by good daycare, so if you're happy with the place and have had no other complaints I wouldn't worry too much. It was just an unfortunate freak accident.

I think they were amazing! I can only hope that if this ever happens to my son, the adults he’s with will be so  quick. I don’t understand what you think they did wrong to warrant the thought of removing him from their care.
