Which spelling?

We live in Canada where Lucas is more popular but my husband has a German/Slavik background so prefers the spelling Lukas. I just don't want the child to have to go through life saying "Lukas with a K" 🤷🏼‍♀️

in my opinion, his reasoning is extremely understandable and has meaning. if your only reason for wanting Lucas is because of the spelling and inconvenience of clarifying, that’s kind of selfish. he wants Lukas due to his ethnicity, that should be taken seriously and with respect.

You're going to have to work it with a c if you really don't want that happening but it's also not a big deal, I've gone my entire life saying Brooke with an e. The only time it drives me crazy is when people spell it wrong that are close to me (my BIL does it constantly) or on Facebook where my name is literally right in front of them.
