Appropriate for 8 yr old?

My boyfriend has an 8yr old. She just came today for spring break. Its 1100pm and she comes asking if she can go by her cousin’s house tonight. I say it its late, just go tomorrow. Dad then says “they’ve been planning this for a while” and ask her if she wants to go tonight or tomorrow…. I said spring break literally just started and he asked her again..I just walk off because I don’t feel it’s appropriate to be taking her so late and she literally just came to us today and i don’t want to argue infront of her…? Am i overthinking it?

I wouldn't let my 8 year old do that. But it's his kid so what can ya really do.

It’s way too late for a young child. Heck I might be saying no to my teenager leaving the house that late. But.. it’s also his kid and at this point I don’t think it’s worth the argument. If the are going anywhere, I might gently mention concern from a safety perspective. But if they are just having a sleepover at the cousins house and staying in, at least you know the kid is probably safe.

I agree with you and others that it’s late for an 8 year old plus think of the cousins parents, they’re probably asleep or trying to get to sleep soon. I wouldn’t want to impose on anyone at that time of night.

Yes it’s late but I don’t think this is worth an argument . It’s her cousins house and if her father doesn’t care I wouldn’t make it a big deal .
