Sucessful VBAC stories or advice ???

Question

My first was 9 1/2 years ago and she was butt breech. I had to have cesection. I was so upset. I had planned on having an all natural birth and not to be able to upset me. Now 9 1/2 years later I am pregnant again and it took me almost 30 dr offices to find a dr that will do a VBAC. She said everything looks perfectly fine to do an all natural no meds vbac but now I'm terrified the baby is not going to turn. Any advice ???

My mom had me by c section almost 30 years ago. Two years later she had my baby brother by VBAC. She found it to be awesome. She had him at 42 weeks and just over 9 pounds. They both did great. And that was a long time ago. If the reason for c section was a breech baby, that's not likely to happen again. And even if it does, and you wind up having to have another c section, it's much better for baby if the c section doesn't happen until after you go into labor. They can do expedited c sections that happen more quickly than scheduled but aren't emergency c sections. I would definitely go for the VBAC, you do sound like a perfect candidate, and ACOG recommends them.

My first child was breeched and had to have a c-section. It was about 6 yrs after that I had my second and I was adamant on no surgery. So my Doc was very nice and helped me the whole way. My body didn't want to go into labor so they had to induce me but they can not use meds so they put the balloon like thing in my cervix and blew it up within 3 hours I was in labor. Anyways many many many hrs later I gave birth and everything went greats. 3 years after her I had another v-bac and that on I had to keep telling the doc I was not having a c-section this group of docs were not as happy to accommodate me like the other one.. However I had him v-bac I was in labor at my house for 12 ish hours before going to the hospital and there everything went fine. Except they took away the epidural and I felt everything having him lol.

If you want a v-bac let your doc know. If your heart is set on it don't let anyone talk you out of it. I have had it both ways and I know for me I would not willing go c-section unless lives were in danger. This last pregnancy I had my doc told me that if you have more than one c-section they will not let you have a v-bac because you up the chance of complications.

I hope your doctors discussed your specific chances of success. The success rates vary a lot based on maternal factors like how long since the cesarean, whether it was an emergency, how the incision was made, the reason for the last one, etc. The rate for uncomplicated pregnancy in someone who has already had a VBAC is something like 90%. The rates in women with other circumstances can be as low as 10%. VBAC is a great thing to aspire to, but the choice should be made case-by-case.

My first child was c section due to her being breech and that was 10 years ago and 5 years ago I had a successful vbac with my son and now 28 weeks with baby #3 and hoping for another successful vbac
