If Natural Family Planning a form of birth control in your opinion?

Do you feel NFP is a BC? can you have an unplanned pregnancy if you're using NFP? With NFP did birth control fail? Just wondering.. Thanks

My mom and dad used this method they said. The doctors were trying to force my mom to go on BC but my mom said no. The doctors basically scoffed at her and told her it will never work. Well, it did! They had me as a honeymoon baby lol but they used NFP for a year till my sister came along. 8 years later I had another little sister and they had used NFP for those 8 years! The doctors I remember were getting pissed that it was working so well for her. I think it works if you aren't lazy about it and make sure to pay attention to your schedule

Yes it is a form of birth control. And yes, you can have an unplanned pregnancy while employing that method.

But you can also have an unplanned pregnancy while using no birth control at all.

Neither would be very surprising though.

It is reliable for women who have very regular cycles. I used this for over 5 years and did not conceive, once we decided to try for our third baby I was pregnant within two months. You need to be in tune with your body and not afraid to check your cervical mucus. Your CM will tell you if you are safe to have unprotected sex. My cycle worked like clockwork so I was never worried. If you have an irregular cycle or are not good at keeping track of things and really don't want to be pregnant then this would not be the best method.

It's a method. Like other methods it has pros and cons. In terms of preventing pregnancy many types of NFP are not really all that effective, but certainly better than nothing. We used it for a couple years and I only got pregnant when I wanted to.

I think it's a form of birth control, but not very reliable. Not every woman ovulates at the "normal" time each month. For example, I got pregnant on my period. I think another form of contraception needs to go along with this, because it's just really not reliable.

Mine are whack. I could never use NFP alone.

Yes it is a form of birth control - just because something isn't the most effective method of doing something doesn't mean it isn't one.

Just like with everything else it has its risks and success rates.  More risk of you do not know and understand your cycle of your cycle is not steady. My friend used to swear by the rythem method and used to always tell me about it, til she got pregnant 3 times
