Maternity Leave? When is it time?

Bri • 30, Mama to a 6 year old and pregnant with baby #2 🤰🏼👶🏻🌈 due July 4, 2023 🧨

Hi everyone! I’m thinking about going on maternity leave at the end of the month at 36 weeks. I have a pretty active job as I’m a nanny for two different families (2 year old and 4 year old) and (17 months and 3 year old). Just curious when everyone else is going to be going on leave. If I had a remote job or was less active I’d prob work until I popped but I had my daughter at 38 weeks so I’m nervous 😬

Im a teacher and I worked until I the day after my due date. Fortunately the following week was February break but I would have worked until I was in labor. United States maternity leave is garbage so I wanted more time with my baby girl.

I worked until I went into labor with all 4 of mine. I'm pregnant with my 5th and plan to do the same.

Probably depends on how long you get for leave. We get 12-18 months in Canada so I know lots of ppl that take off a couple weeks prior to get some down time before baby comes.

With my first I took off work starting a week before my sons due date. But I regretted it because you really want every last second with them once they arrive. I would have loved that extra week with him. So with my second I worked up until he decided to make his appearance so I could have as much time with him as possible.

My maternity will start a few days before my due date but I have annual leave so will finish work around 36.5 weeks.. I want as much time with baby so wanted to take it as late as possible and work isn’t too strenuous but can feel the tired and uncomfortable kicking in and currently 34

I’m a physical therapist. I only got 12 weeks of leave, and I wanted to spend it all with baby. So, I worked until the day before my scheduled c-section.

It's great that you're thinking about your maternity leave! It's important to listen to your body and make sure you're taking care of yourself and your baby. Many women choose to start their maternity leave around 36-38 weeks, but it's ultimately up to you and your doctor to decide what's best for you and your pregnancy. If you're feeling tired or uncomfortable, it might be a good idea to start your leave a little earlier. Remember, taking care of yourself is the most important thing right now!
