Any advice for a FTM getting induced ?

I’m getting induced in 5 days is there any advice you’d offer someone during labor and induction? Thanks in advance :)

Bring entertainment, plenty of snacks/food, keep as active as possible. Start with the foley catheter/balloon and avoid pitocin at all cost.

I was induced with my 1st because of high blood pressure. My advice is EAT BEFOREHAND! I didn’t eat and I was so hungry throughout labor (17 hours) I didn’t realize how long being induced can take & you can’t eat during it. Eat before the hospital and bring snacks for after birth

Have somebody with you, from the start. I was told to bring a book because there can be lots of waiting around, so I told my husband to take his time dropping off our other children to my mum. But it was super intense from as soon as my midwife put in the gel, and wanted my husband, but he was like 45 minutes away. 
I agree that you should avoid it if you can though, unless there is a medical reason for it.

If it’s not for medical reason then deny it. That’s my advice. Many doctors try to have baby on their schedule for their convenience. It’s annoying and unethical.

Once the contractions start, its hard to think straight. I highly recommend reading up on the methods of induction at the bare minimum and if youre not anxiety-prone, also read common induction complications or reasons for a C section. You'll find out that there's some subjectivity when it comes to how quickly they try a new induction method or how easily they reccommend a C section. If you have any opinions about it, make sure to tell your partner/OB ahead of time because you might not have mental capacity to handle anything other than the contractions themselves. I was SOO mentally exhausted with my induction (58hr labor) that i wouldnt have been able to speak up for myself if a situation came up. Good luck!
