ADVICE please with fussy eater 2.5 years
*advice please with a fussy eater who’s 2.5*
So my son is so fussy. He won’t eat 80% of things. All he wants to do is eat potato waffles and chicken dinosaurs no matter how much I try or cook.
Long story short..
He can use a spoon to feed himself yoghurts and rice, and sometimes cereal. But now wants to eat or dry so yet again wants to just use his hands coz it’s easier for him (I’m guessing)
He obviously doesn’t have other big enough meals to feed himself, as the meals he has like potato waffles etc he just uses his hands even when given a fork as he obviously finds it easier and quicker (wouldn’t we all)
I am so upset as at nursery they said he can’t feed himself. They said they have to feed him his yoghurts? I don’t understand as he feeds himself yoghurts all the time as home!! And said it’s the same with cereal.
I feel so upset cos he’s 2.5 and I don’t know what to do to encourage him to be more confident in feeding himself if he won’t eat bigger meals coz he’s so fussy where a spoon/fork would be needed. (Like spag bol)
I know he can feed him selves with yoghurts etc but not sure why he doesn’t do it at nursery, maybe he’s shy? I don’t want him to struggle when he goes into preschool which will be 4 months away. My health visitor said “all children at this age is fussy with food” but if it’s making him not as confident with feeding himself because the foods which could encourage that he doesn’t eat then what do I do????
I feel so sad 😞 even with cereal I agree with nursery he’s started even being fussy at home and wanting to use his hands and when I try to encourage the spoon again he kicks off. I don’t 100% agree as he can feed himself yoghurts and rice, but I don’t know what to do if he won’t eat bigger meals ?
