period question, help

so i’m a new mom my baby is 14 months old and since i gave birth my periods have been off, i know it’s supposed to happen but it’s been over a year and my periods are still not normal

i will spot for a day and half and then it will be totally done and 3 days will go by and my period will start for around 4-5 days

before i had the baby my periods were consistent and would last 7 days every month,

i just want to know from other moms after giving birth did periods remain off balance or is it supposed to go back on track?

do i need to get checked? lol
