I am struggling with weight gain.

I have gained 40 lbs over the last 8 months. I live a mildly active lifestyle. I am in the navy training in a classroom 8 hours a day Monday -Friday. I work out MWF with my class. I eat at the cafeteria on base which is not very unhealthy foods. I always have a protein, vegetables and another side, usually a carb. I don’t drink sodas, I drink a gallon of water a day minimum. Sometimes I workout on the weekends but not often. I get good enough sleep, average 6-8 hours of sleep each night. I just seems like nothing I do is stopping my weight gain. I am only 5ft and at 205 today. When I run my times are getting gradually worse and worse. It makes no sense to me. Maybe I am missing something. I have never turned to a blog for help but I’m really struggling.
