Are baby showers worth having?

I’m at first time mom and full time student in my last semester of med school. Are baby showers worth having? Or should I just use the money I’ll spend on my baby shower and buy the things my baby will actually need??

We payed for 2 of mines. The first one was a big one but I got waaaaay more than what we spent. Second was really small since it was during covid and even though I got more than what I spent wasn’t worth it. I think after the first kid they’re not really necessary. Won’t be having a third one

My mom planned mine and it was amazing I had so many people come I got everything I needed for baby

My mom planned and payed for my baby shower and honestly I’m glad I had it I got so many gifts. I bought the crib chair all that and stroller and car seat since I wanted this expensive brand but I got so many diapers clothes bath tub swaddles all that camera swing bouncer and probably saved me Atleast a 1000

I didn't want one because i don't like attention on myself like that. Ended up with 3 surprise ones from my colleagues, sisters, and in-laws. The stuff i didn't need or had duplicates of was given to pregnant women in my neighborhood.

Idk personally for me it wasnt worth it, like i hate to sound any type of way but i barely got anything for my baby i ended up having to buy most stuff and its been hard on me financially... but it was nice to spend a few hours with family even tho they barely talked to me

Only worth it if you know ppl will actually show up.. nobody showed up to my last one so with this one I won’t be having one.. i don’t want to deal with the disappointment again..

Honestly, if ￼you need some help with getting baby items, it’s worth it. I had a very small and intimate one for my 2nd baby and still got a bunch of stuff. Diapers especially.

If you have someone to plan and pay for it then yes. If not, save your money and if anyone wants to get baby anything they still can

I didn't want a shower as I was working full time and felt like it was one more stressful thing to organise on top of working and being pregnant. I definitely don't regret not having one. I also think that, if people really want to, they'll buy you a gift regardless of attending an event or not.

Showers are usually paid for and hosted not by the parents making them a gift from the host to the family.
