how awful is getting iud?

i just got off the pill for health purposes and i’m looking into copper iud. i have a sensitive cervix to the point where i have to lay down to put in a tampon and if i get up i’ll immediately faint. i’m able to have sex normally though. i’m just wondering considering i’ll be laying down how awful the iud pain really is? i’ve never gotten a vaginal exam or anything remotely close so i’m not sure if i should just throw myself off the deep end like this.
