Feet cramps at night! What causes this?

My feet are achy and feel crampy at night. I have some vericose veins too. What causes this pain? My friend said lack of salt, another said i should drink more milk (i'm a bit lactose intolerant). Another said i should soak my feet in warm salt water with lavender oil. Any ideas?

I got cramps in the back of my legs with my son and it was from low calcium.

Ginger ale. Drink a glass every night before bed. It has quinine in it naturally which relives cramps. And most doctors will tell you to drink ginger ale for nausea during pregnancy so it's safe. A couple of years ago I started randomly having severe cramps in my feet and legs at night and after running tests my doctor couldn't find anything wrong, so he told me to start drinking a glass of ginger ale every night. It actually worked, and most nights i didn't have cramps. The times I did they weren't as severe. Bananas never really helped me, but they help my sister. Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

It is caused by electrolyte deficiency - normally magnesium, but could be potassium or calcium. Epsom salt baths are great for it, or a magnesium supplement. For potassium a banana or cucumber is good daily.

Freeze a water bottle and roll the arch of your foot over it or use a tennis ball. The cold water bottle will help with any inflammation and both will help stretch and massage the muscles in the bottom of your feet . also check your shoes if you've had them for 4 to 6 months it might be time to change them . if you're getting cramps in your legs magnesium and extra electrolytes will help ! Massaging the entire calf will also help.
