Did I do something wrong here?

Just moved to a new city and an old guy friend messaged me asking if I’d like to go for a drink.8 agreed.

Before we met, he asked me if I was single. He said he ‘was asking so he knows how to act.’ Which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. He also talked about getting me ‘nice and drunk.’

I met him and had a nice time. When I got home I texted him that it was great to see him and see him doing so well :)

The rest of the conversation went like this. And it’s upset me a bit because I interpreted ‘fake date’ and ‘would you date me?’ As him genuinely about to make a move.
