who was in your village?

Question

Hey everyone! I’ve been debating who J want in my team for pregnancy & birthing! I have my gyno & soon my obstetrician, but I would like someone I can speak to without waiting weeks on end lol. any experience with dula’s? midwives? anything in between? 
I’m looking for both positive & negative reviews. those who went without one, did you wish you had one? very curious & open minded! thank you!

I highly recommend a doula! I have had one for both births and will again in October. They are totally worth it. I do homebirth with a midwife, and they usually bring an assistant or 2, with my husband and my mom (who is a certified doula and the doula i use for my births) that makes up my whole team. My current midwives assistants are both doulas as well, so I'll be well taken care of.

I had an OB but plan to switch to a midwife if I have a second pregnancy. I will never give birth again without a doula. I was supposed to have one but it didn’t work out last time.
