I feel like my husband was rude

One of our kids teachers called us yesterday because my daughter was giving her notice that she won't be at school on the 31st and the first of November because we are celebrating Samhain. She just wanted to let her know in advance so she can get school work for those days. The teacher called because she thought she was lying and never heard of that Holiday and was sure our daughter was lying. My husband told her it's a Wiccan/Pagan Holiday. We are Wiccan. I suppose she was arguing with him on the phone about Wicca not being a religion(which it is) and he ended up yelling at her and saying "Look lady! I'm not asking you if my daughter can miss school those days. I'm telling you she's gonna miss school those days!" And just hung up. I told him that was so rude! He said who is she to call him and tell him what is and isn't a Holiday and is and isn't a religion and that she overstepped and she should be happy our daughter cares enough about school to ask for her work. Maybe it's because I'm a push over and the type to work 365 days a year just because my boss asked me to(I know I need to grow a backbone). I'm just embarrassed and feel like he was rude.
