For me it is, but I only spend about $50 a year. My stylist is a family friend who owns her own salon. She only charges $30 total to cut everyone's hair in my house because my late nanny was her best friend. When I go by myself I only get chairged $10 for a full cut and trimming my bangs is free if that's all I want done. I can cut my.own hair, but I prefer not to. My mom spends about $80 a month to get her hair dyed by the same woman. My best friend is black and takes amazing care of her hair. Her stylist is wonderful and her hair appointments can run $150-500 depending on what she's getting done. Her mom is a single woman who gets her hair done regularly. She doesn't have anyone to take care of or answer to so she splurges on herself because it makes her happy. Her hair appointments have made my head spin, but after years of being the last person to be taken care of it is beautiful to see her in all of her glory full of confidence. Every woman's hair needs are different and location as well as what is being done can greatly impact how much someone spends on their hair.
