Destroyed a students future

Part of me feels bad about this but part of me knows I did the right thing. I work as a Professor at a university. I teach "social studies method" which people majoring in Elementary Education have to take. I had a student who opened up to me about fearing for her life. She kept getting messages from a Facebook threatening her. Saying they were gonna kill her, rape her, awful things. She blocked the Facebook and the person would make another and started leaving notes on her car. She was sure it was her ex boyfriend and the school was planning to expel him once they got proof it was him. They later found out it WASN'T him. Some girl she's not friends with anymore who's also in the program was doing this to her. And the school who was totally on board with expelling her ex boyfriend, chalked this up to petty girl drama and just made a no contact order. My student was crying to me saying she's gonna drop out of the program because she's traumatized from this girl. I didn't think that was fair. If they would have expelled the guy, they should expell her. So I did what I could do and went to the advisor of the Elementary Education program and told them everything that girl had done and said she needs to be kicked out of the Elementary out of the program because 1. My student is wanting to quit because she doesn't want to see her and 2. Someone like that clearly shouldn't be a teacher. And she was kicked out of the program. My student was so thankful. Part me does feel guilty for destroying a young girls future but I also don't believe this should have been treated differently because it was between two girls instead of the ex boyfriend.
