How Long Should You Wait to Have Kids After Getting Married??

My husband and I have only been married a few months, and babies are already on HIS mind. I do want kids, but am on the fence as to if we should wait a little while or just start trying. Thoughts??

My husband and I have been married for two years and are starting to try for a family now. These past couple years we have just enjoyed being a married couple. Traveling the world, hanging out with friends and going to various events in our city. I look at it as: You have the rest of your life to raise children. Enjoy being newlyweds for a while.?

Enjoy your marriage and your life as a couple. You can do things own your own like travelling, going out, eaking up late and many other things. You have think if you are ready in many different ways to have a child, i have been living with my husband for 10 years and now we just started to think about having a baby!

I know people who had kids right away and in know some who waited. It depends on you and your circumstances. I've been married for 8 years and only just started trying for #1 this summer. We got married at 21, though! I've really enjoyed growing into the couple we've become and I'm excited about how we'll grow after babies!

I would enjoy marriage for a little while first! Of course I didn't do it that way, but once you have kids the dynamic of a relationship changes so much. I would want to enjoy just being us for a year.

Depends on many things. I dated and lived with my husband for 4 years before we got married aaaaand we are now in our 30s, so we were good and ready to start trying after the wedding. We had all our "couple time" wild oats sown and travel itches scratched well before the wedding :)

I say to wait and enjoy your time as newlyweds! It will never ever be just you and your spouse ever again once you have a baby. I feel too many people jump into parenthood too soon after marriage. We will have been married for 6 years on the 25th this month and still no children... Though now I am ready, we are not in the best position... We are working on our finances and housing situation though! And we are young, we have time! (I'm 25, he's 31)

I think it depends how long you have already been living together. Couples that only move in together after getting married should wait, I think, 6 months to a year before trying for children as things about a person can really change and you may want to work on your relationship before having to also worry about a child. I lived with my husband for a year before we got married and then only a couple months went by before we started trying for our first. It is working for me but everyone is different.
