Anyone else’s newborn have a similar looking “rash”. My daughter is 1.5 weeks old. All I’ve used on her skin is Johnson’s baby soap and baby oil. Could it be the laundry detergent?

I know this is an older post but i would avoid everything J&J brand. They had a lawsuit, which they lost, for the baby powder containing asbestos and causing TERMINAL cancer. To avoid liability they created a second company, transferred the product to that company, and filed bankruptcy so it wouldn’t affect the parent company. They have refused and fought against paying the medical care to the affected people, many of which with cancer. I don’t trust any of their products at all. Shady company all around. But in the end, I hope your LO is feeling better now and I’m glad to read your Pediatrician said it was a benign rash. I hope your family has a happy, safe Holiday :)

Id contact the doctor. Baby could be allergic to anything you put on their skin. Are you using a gentle laundry soap?

To me, it looks like heat rash. Make sure not to bundle the baby up too much while sleeping. Cotton pajamas help because they are more breathable than synthetic fabrics. If you notice the head sweating, cheeks looking flushed, or belly is hot to the touch, it typically means baby is too hot. Get the baby cool right away. Remove the clothing and wipe down the rash with a cool cloth. Also, I would skip moisturizers until the rash is gone. Heat rash is caused by sweat and oils getting trapped in the pores. So you don't want to cause any further clogging of pores with heavy lotions or oils. Just keep the baby cool and dry. Heat rash can also be a sign that baby is overheating, which can be dangerous. So if you notice this, make sure you cool baby down right away. ￼￼

For those following, ped said it is a benign rash typically caused by heat. Just to moisturize the area. But I will stop using Johnson’s soap. My son has excema and he has to use special soap and lotions. I never used Johnson’s with him. I only used it cause they did in the hospital and I had it on hand.

Did you figure out what caused the rash? My daughter has the same rash/hives just after we feed her they pop up and then go away. We thought it was the formula still trying to figure it out.
