My 14 month old has been walking for almost 3 months now and faceplants CONSTANTLY when I'm not around. Need a helmet and advice!
I swear my child is going to have scars all over her face and fat lips/split lips forever. She recently faceplanted on concrete and chipped a tooth. It's very mild and thankfully it's part of the tooth that will wear down (it's part of the serrated part).
In our house she's barefoot or has grippy socks. I try to keep her on the carpet. I encourage her to walk but I swear to God the moment I'm not looking and can catch her, she faceplants.
She's had goose eggs, bruises, bloody noses, busted lips, and fat lips galore. She tends to have a "big fall" two to three times each week with several falls every day. She simply loses her balance and plants.
Her doctor says this is totally normal and she even faceplanted in the doctor's office as I was explaining what was going on and she was being assessed.
I am at my wits end. This kid is just a walking disaster and I have no clue what to do, short of putting her in a football type helmet and bubble wrapping her.
We have to keep her in a large padded playpen when one of us can't directly walk beside her because she falls with such force and hurts herself so badly.
So tips, tricks and reassurance appreciated. Also, helmet advice ... Got any? What works and what doesn't?
