Breastfeeding vs. Nipple piercings

I decided to end 2023 off with a bang and I got my nipples pierced. I don’t plan on having any children for another 3-5 years but when I do I would like to breastfeed. However, I would also like to keep my piercings because I know I’ll never go through that pain again 😂 Hopefully they should be healed at that point. Of course I know to remove the jewelry when feeding. Any moms been successful in keeping their piercings the full duration of breastfeeding or did you ultimately decide to just leave them out? Oh and I also have flat nipples which I heard can cause a bit of trouble with breastfeeding too.

You can breastfeed or you can have nipple piercings. You cannot have both.

It’s honestly not worth it. Nipple piercings close very easily. I had mine done and healed for ten years before I took them out and within a week, they were closed. If you want to breastfeed, you need to take them out.

It’s really not feasible to keep your piercings while breastfeeding. You have to take out with every feed. Thats 8-12+ times a day. With sleep deprivation on top of that, it’s very easy to slip up and leave them in which is a choking hazard. Flat nipples may make the initial latch difficult but with time and all the suction, it shouldn’t be a problem. Plus, the piercing should help the flat nipples.
