Infant Lounger

Question

Hi all - first time mom-to-be so honestly don’t know what I need.  Is an infant lounger necessary?  Did you use it, how did you use it?  If you found it useful, any product recommendations?
I was gifted a knock off of a dock-a-tot type lounger but it’s pretty flimsy and questioning whether I should return.

Loungers should have never been made. They are ever so dangerous.

We had something like this. Not exactly this one. But like this. Handy handy. Showering while husband was away, cooking, cleaning, anything that required 2 hands and couldn't be done while baby wearing. Used/use it with all 3 kiddos.

I liked mine. They aren’t necessary and can be dangerous if used improperly but I found it handy with my second child.

People are obsessed with them but they have shown to be a high risk item. Personally I would forgo it and opt for a swing or bouncer.

They’re not necessary, although I have a Boppy Lounger that I got for my first and I love using it in the beginning to put my baby down when I’m laying on the couch and need to get up. I have trouble getting up by myself without putting my baby down first because of my C-sections, but I guess you could just use any pillow or blanket barrier to prevent your baby from falling off the couch or bed while you get up. Most loungers have been recalled in other countries because they’re unsafe, but I still find it handy sometimes. If you already have one then you may as well keep it in case you need it in the beginning, but just never leave your baby in it for more than a few minutes and never unattended.
