Different last names

Brittany

Same mom and dad but i want to give the second child hyphenated last name . First has his dad’s name. Things have changed drastically from first child to second child . First child he was there every step during pregnancy and birth . Things really changed after birth and he isn’t as present as he was in the beginning . He also has only been to maybe 3 appointments this pregnancy . (High risk so i have a lot) . Sooo i was still going to give baby his last name but i was also going to give mine too . I’m on the fence though because i don’t want one to grow up wondering why they have different last names but the same dad .

I don’t see anything wrong with hyphenating their name. But I would try hyphenate the first baby’s name as well so they could match. You do what’s going to keep your mind at ease.

Do it. And so what if they have different last names? It doesn't change the fact that they're siblings. My first two have my last name and my last two have my last name hyphenated with their dad's last name. This time with this baby it'll be the same as the last two.

I would take the steps of changing the firsts then also.. also just food for thought, I don’t think most men go to all or most appts.. I’ve been pregnant 5x, two miscarriages I’ve found out about alone. We only made a big deal about him seeing our first baby’s ultrasound and first anatomy scan. Our second live birth, we scheduled private ultrasound to learn the gender together. It’s too much of a chore arranging everyone’s schedules to come to my appts as well as other childcare

Missing the appointments isn’t the biggest thing . He has missed the important appointments . But a lot more has happened that i don’t think i need to get into on here . Also , changing his first name would require his father’s permission because he is on the BC and I’m not sure that that will be an easy feat !
