Epino…?

Can you guys personally share your pros & cons of having an epidural please? My first pregnancy I thought I was superwoman and didn’t get one but that pain was so traumatizing 😫

I went to 10cm without epi or any meds, was painful but you can do it (if you wish), I was rushed to theatre and had to have epi, didn’t want it but was nessessary, you can’t feel a thing when you push and can’t feel any contractions.
I’m 50/50 on having it again. Pros and cons to each imo.

Well I had induction medication with all of my kids so………. The pain was so severe for me I stopped breathing and had to be sent to emergency hospitals to watch my heart encase 
 I went into cardiac arrest as I have a heart condition. My contractions were so big the monitor wasn’t even big enough to copy the spike things… so yeah… I had to have one with all four of my children. With my third the midwife rolled me on my side…. (Moron) and that left half my body numb which means they had to pull it out and put it back in… with my fourth I went to the royals women’s hospital in Sydney and they had an amazing option where you could top up your epidural once within every hour of you needed it. It came with a button but I didn’t need to top it up… I could feel the tightening of my belly but no pain… felt everything during pushing…. I would say the worst thing about it for me was the bloody itchy skin which was numb. So it’s itchy as hell but it’s numb so you can’t feel the scratching! Other than that I have no complaints. It made labour enjoyable for me. I was singing and laughing with the midwives and hubby the whole time I could actually enjoy it and get some rest for when it was time to push! Oh and the catheter is a whole other bitch… I hated the feeling of moving and having something inside my urethra. Was uncomfortable. But yeah honestly I’m glad I got it…. Nothing worse that not being able to breath and feeling like someone’s knifing you with a burning blade… yeah, naaaa thanks I’ll be right

No cons from me 🤷🏻‍♀️ actually thats not true. I wish i would have waited longer, i got it pretty early because i was scared it would take a long time to get once i asked for it but the guy was in there within 10 mins. But i wish i waited longer because i wasnt in much pain anyway and i wished i could have walked around and moved a bit more. Ended up with an emergency csection anyway though so it didnt matter much. Was happy i had it.
