She’s here!!
On 1-11-24 at 8 pm, I was sent to the hospital at 37 weeks for a medical induction due to chronic hypertension affecting my pregnancy. I was 2 centimeters dilated and was attempting a VBAC so no cervical dilation medication was able to be used so we jumped into pitocin. They up the dose every 30 minutes and I didn’t start to feel any painful contractions until 4mg.
I had a cervical check around 2 am and was up to 4cm so they decided to do a membrane sweep. Kept upping the pitocin and I could feel all the contractions in my hips and back. Checked again around 4:30 am. Was still only a 4 but was able to be stretched to a 5 so they told me I should get my epidural so they could prepare to break my water. I got the epidural even though I didn’t want it.
And it only numbed the right leg and could feel everything else. 5:30 am I was completely thinned but still only at a 4 I popped the water. I was stuck at a 5-6 cm until around 2 when I was a for sure 6. They placed an internal contraction monitor because the external monitor was not picking up any of my contractions anymore around 3.
The doctor came and checked me once more around 3:30 because I told my nurse I had the feeling that I had to poop badly and to her surprise I was completely dilated and the baby was ready to come out at any minute! people started filling the room they had my legs put in the stirrups by 3:35 and by 3:36 I pushed 3 times in that minute and my beautiful little girl came out weighing 6 pounds 4 ounces and 19 inches long.
Everyone was amazed at how fast I jumped from 6-10cm. And baby did have a nuchal cord which explained why her heart rate dropped every time I had a contraction. But luckily she’s a healthy little girl that I cannot stop obsessing over😍💕
