That did not go as planned
I imagined the birth of my firstborn daughter to be magical. I prepared and researched all sorts of outcomes and was ready for anything. Just because i was ready for anything didn’t mean i wanting anything to happen though!
Induced at 38+4 due to insulin controlled GD and labored for 30 hrs. I was given cytotec and the contractions were too frequent so i stopped taking it. Foley bulb was next and made my contractions so painful, i had literally seconds between my contractions and was having back labor too so i physically couldn’t breathe and iv pain meds didn’t even touch it. My care team discussed getting an early epidural, although it wasn’t what i wanted i was already bedridden due to pain so we just went for it. After that epidural i really thought it would be smooth sailing, but i was so wrong 😭 while i wasn’t in pain, baby was having decelerations that were concerning and i was stuck at 5 cm dilated. They tried to break my water but baby was just too high, and unfortunately because i had the epidural i couldn’t walk to help drop her. So we waited and watched as she became less tolerant of the pitocin, so we stopped it. My contractions were so light but baby was still not doing well so the next thing i know my dr is on the phone telling me she’s coming and I’m getting an emergency c section.
An hour later my sweet daughter arrived, at least her pureness and beauty makes up for the stress of a 30 hr labor process and the major abdominal surgery!
