Virgin. Wondering a few things.

I am going to talk with my doctor to get some sort of birth control. I am not familiar with anything about it. I do have a sex drive that has been killing me because me and my significant other stop in the midst of being intimate. Condoms will be used but I still fear getting pregnant. I haven't been tracking my period ever. I know it's 5 days and it sometimes is irregular from stress. What can you guys tell me from your experiences?
