Thought this might be a fun idea. For me, i live in coastal Northern California. The one thing i would say you couldnt pass up in my.general area would be the ecological staircase. You start at a pygmy forest in van dam state park, then it turns into a pine forrest, then redwood, then you make your way all the way down to the beach. It goes from dry and dusty to forrest to the lush ferned forest like Endor to a rocky and private beach. Works best if you carpool and leave one car at judghandle beach and use others to drive to van dam its not something you can walk to unless you double your hike and its not as fun uphill. Its hours away from me so i wish i could go more often.
