Family wants me to remove our son's extra fingers and toes
I've known my husband since 6th grade and he has polydactyly. He has an extra finger on each hand and an extra toe on each foot. Several members in his family do. I just gave birth to our son and my mom was worried about our son getting it because it's usually genetic and he did. 6 fingers, 6 toes. I always said I didn't care. I married my husband because I love him and if our son is anything like him I would be okay with it. I already knew the gene was in his family. And my husband has lived a pretty normal life. Sure he's had to get special gloves and things for himself but he lived a normal life. He was picked in a bit in school but it never bothered him and he actually got really popular in school. I'm fine with my son being like his dad but my mom keeps pushing for me to have surgery to remove them and how it's not normal and she can't look at her own grandchild without being sad/disgusted. I think he's beautiful! I want my family to love him as much as we do but they have flat out said it makes him ugly🥺
