! CAR help! Is there still hope? Or should I assume a loss?

I got into accident last week and it’s not looking pretty. Engine needs to be replaced, oil filter was crushed, frame was bent. The car inspector told me that he’s not 100% it’s a loss but that I should brace myself for it because it was extensive. I’m not sure how I feel about it being a loss.

I literally stayed at a job where I was sexually harassed to be able to get this car as soon as possible, so I feel emotional about it.

ANYWAYS. It’s a 2016 Chevy Malibu, they’re worth like $8,000 max I think. From my research, the engine replacement alone could be like $2000 and they’re only allowing the work to get up to 75% of the value of the car before they want to total it.

I think I just hold an unnecessary attachment to it because of what happened to me before/while getting so I just keep hoping that I can keep it because it was the one positive thing I had going for me
