PSA about WFH

I keep seeing a lot of posts from moms wanting to find work from home jobs and feel like there is this huge misconception that it’s a great way to offset the cost of childcare and balance career and motherhood. I know times are tough and money is a major stressor for a lot of us, but a solid majority of WFH jobs will still require childcare. Sure it offers more flexibility for days that daycare/school is closed, kids are sick, etc. but it is not the answer to having an extra income AND avoid the costs of childcare. Just a word of warning, it is not all it’s cracked up to be. yes, there are benefits but please don’t fall into the illusion. I have worked from home since my child was about 2 and I too thought “this is great, we can cancel daycare and save a bunch of money” and the burn out of trying to work full time and parent full time at the same time, was not worth it. It is not sustainable.

To add, If a job is saying you can WFH with kids, make your own hours, be your own boss, earn a bunch of money etc. it’s probably too good to be true or a scam. unfortunately some companies are also preying on moms wanting to join the work force.
