Ttc while breastfeeding. Need help :(

Me and my hubby currently have an 8 month old. We have been trying for another for the past 4 months with no luck at all. I feel like I either am not ovulating at all (I have no symptoms during my fertile week but still get a period) or am ovulating a week late. We have sex every other day throughout the whole month since we don’t know when we ovulate (I read ovulation tests don’t work when breastfeeding). And it’s only been 4 months but we really wanted our kids close in age and I wanted to conceive before our LO turns one…

BUT

my son exclusively breastfeeds and he still eats every hour of the day.. he eats plenty and doctors say it’s fine and he just seems to prefer eating more frequently (he only falls asleep if I nurse him to sleep and that includes naps)

But bc he eats so frequently I feel like it’s making us Ttc not happening or even a possibility…

What should I do? My boy is too attached to me and boob it’d break my heart to take that from him but I also want to give him a sibling. Is it really true that breastfeeding prevents ovulation?? Is it just a myth?? Do we need to just keep trying??? Everyone asks us constantly if we’re pregnant too :(
