Fire retardant car seat yes or no?

I’m on the fence about whether I should get the original Chicco Keyfit 35 car seat or the Chicco Keyfit 35 ClearTex. They’re the same price.
I don’t like the idea of chemicals, but my husband made a point that in case of an accident with a fire the fire retardant could add time to get the baby out. 
What’s your opinion?

I’m not familiar with either of those seats, but unfortunately if you or your child are in a situation where the fire retardant seat is necessary, your child will most likely already be in rough shape due to smoke inhalation, extreme heat, or fire itself. The seat isn’t fully enclosing the baby so i guess I don’t see the point.

I’d go cleartex. Thats the exact seat I intend to get. I love that chicco now has cleartex options in all their main seats.

I purchased the UPPAbaby infant car seat for this reason. It’s chemical free and specially woven to prevent the need for any other treatment.
