What did I say wrong ?

This guy started telling me about his guy friend dating life and when I gave my opinion he got upset. Was what I said so bad ? Also I only said “Gotchu” because I didn’t want to go back and forth with him and because he’s said some rude things to people before so I don’t think it’s his place to tell someone to be mindful of what they say etc when he doesn’t….
