Diagnosed with cholestasis after being told last week I was just being anxious
So past few weeks I have been in extreme pain on my right side. I started having itchy feet a few weeks ago, only at night and when laying down. I even went to Labor and Delivery because I was so uncomfortable. I asked my doctor 4 weeks ago about cholestasis because of the itching and she said she wasn't concerned. Well last week I was there for my appointment and in extreme pain, high blood pressure, the works. I have generalized anxiety disorder and chronic depression that I normally take medicine for, but since being pregnant I have stopped all medications. I was yelled at by my doctor saying I need to get my anxiety under control and that I shouldn't be having this many problems (previa, hydrophrenosis, anemia, and thrombocytopenia). She said she would send me for bile acid tests but was confident I was just being an anxious first timer. Well the test results came back, and I have ICP. I start treatment today and will be consulting with MFM for the next steps for an early delivery. Please, don't ever let a doctor make you feel like you are crazy because of your mental health diagnosis. Had I not pushed for this test, I wouldn't have known.
