Bright Red Bleeding, but Heartrate Strong

Mel

So I wake up this morning almost 8 weeks 5 days along so excited for my 2nd ultrasound. I start making my daughter’s breakfast and go to the bathroom. And bright red blood like my period is starting, I start freaking, of course. The start googling and finally decide the ultrasound is just an hour away to calm down. The bleeding lasted for about 10 minutes on and off.

Background: I started spotting at 5 weeks, and ultrasound tech found a tiny almost imperceptible Subchorionic Hemorrhage. So I was put on pelvic rest. I was already on 600 mg progesterone each day.

I get to doctor. They tell me that they only had a checkup scheduled, someone forgot to put in the US appointment slight freak out again. But they got me in about 20 months later. The tech checks my cervix and ovaries first and I keep seeing glimpses of the baby and possibly a heart beating as she is moving around. Finally, we see the baby and heart rate is strong. They think maybe I was passing the hemorrhage because it was no where to be seen.

Moral of the story, of course I needed to talk with my doctor, but don’t always assume the worst. Stay calm and get their professional opinion or a second one if you feel strongly enough.

Baby dust to everyone! Hoping and praying this little one sticks to a happy healthy full term baby, after so many losses.
