When did you tell your children about your pregnancy?

I’m currently very early with my second pregnancy. I have one other child who is turning 6 in two weeks. I’m wondering when is the “right” time (though I know there is no true right time lol) to tell her. I know she’s wanted a sibling forever and she will be so excited. I am having my first appointment at around 9 weeks for my first scan, so I’m planning on keeping it a secret at LEAST until then. But I was wondering what everyone else does!

Similar aged first kid, we will be waiting til at least 12 weeks and NIPT/NT scan because she likes to tell everyone our business 😆  currently 5w4d with an IVF pregnancy so she sees me doing progesterone shots but the explanation “because my doctor told me I need to do it” has been enough for her to not ask more questions…yet.

My daughter already suspects that I am pregnant because of my bloated belly. She keeps on asking when I’m going to the doctor. We haven’t heard a heartbeat yet, so I am not confirming or denying it. I’m just telling her that we have to keep praying. But if all goes well, I plan on telling her after the 12 weeks. ☺️

It’s completely up to you 💕 . I however decided that if I get pregnant again I will not tell my kids until I can’t possibly hide it anymore. Only because I was pregnant 2 times and they were beyond excited prayed every night , asked me how the baby and I am doing they were just sweet angels. BUT I lost both of the babies separate pregnancies but very close together and it absolutely crushed them my daughter is 4 and my twin sons are 6. They still talk about both babies and still pray for both babies and are so heartbroken. I just can’t bare to see them with that heartache if it were to happen again. I always believed that life no matter how many weeks or days pregnant is worth celebrating but after my experience I can’t tell them .

We waited until we had our first scan and saw the heartbeat to tell our 6 year old son. We explained to him that it was a surprise between just our family and he did a great job not telling anyone until we were ready. We had early losses and chemical pregnancies before, so we wanted to wait a little before telling him.

My 5y/o walked in on me taking the test. She was the first to know. She then told my 7y/o as soon as we got him from school.
