Insight please

I think i ovulated late in my cycle. Im 4 days late and experienced this spotting today. If i ovulated around the 20-22nd like im thinking based off how my cm was (i ran out of ovulation tests before i ever saw a surge) then today would be within range of having spotting..? Tests are negative. Idk what to think please share opinions.
