WWYD? Bluey Episode
Alright moms, I need to know what you all would do. My 2 year old son is very emotionally aware and empathetic. We’ve done everything we can to encourage this, and actively encourage him to express his emotions in a healthy way. My son is very attached to his “Hops” (stuffed animals that are bunnies). Today, he and I were watching an episode of Bluey called “Sleepytime.” In the episode, Bingo is having a dream of her and her stuffed bunny, Floppy, exploring and playing in outer space. In the episode, they get to Saturn’s rings, which is actually a bunch of other stuffed bunnies all grouped into a ring and floating around Saturn. Floppy leaves Bingo to join the other bunnies in Saturn’s ring. This was verrrry distressing for my son. He was inconsolable that Floppy left Bingo, even after Floppy comes back at the end of the episode and I explained this happy reunion over and over. Here’s my problem. He keeps asking to watch the episode over and over again. But we watched it two times in a row, and the same thing: inconsolable as soon as Floppy leaves Bingo. So moms, what would you do in this scenario? Would you let your LO watch the episode over and over again since they’re asking to, despite it clearly upsetting them? Maybe he just needs an emotional release and this is an easy/quick outlet for him? Or would you move on and avoid this episode in the future to avoid the emotions?
