Would you have stepped in?
Today I was going from a to b cycling through a park that has a playground. I noticed a friend and stopped to say hi.
We were having a conversation when we heard a kid cry bad.
So we're looking over to see what's going on and a girl (about 4yo, maybe 5 max) was dragging a younger boy, about 2yo? She dropped him pretty hard a few times and even held him upside down and dropped him on the head.. we were actively looking for their parents, we assumed they were siblings.
Since we didn't find them I was 🤏 this close to stepping in because she was being very rough with that boy.
Boy's older brother or friend (not older than 6) came to see what was going on and eventually called a parent, in a language I didn't know.
I heard the girl explain in our language that the baby had wandered off into a dangerous area and she tried to get him back into the playground but he tried to get back to the dangerous area the entire time. (the context we missed)
The brother/friend didn't really respond so I think he didn't really understand. Since I also didn't know their language I don't know if it would have made sense to talk to their parent.
The parent was a guy, and they were a group of dads out on the playground leaving the kids by themselves while they were playing soccer until the brother/friend yelled for him.
I don't understand how parents can not keep an eye on such small kids tbh.
