Not wanting Mother in Law to sign in front of my
My mother in law is deaf. My husband is 50% deaf but both him and his mom have devices to hear. My husband has a hearing aid and his mom has implants. His mom signs when she talks and it bothers me because I'm worried she's saying one thing out loud but something else through sign language since she knows that I don't speak sign language. My MIL has never treated me like a daughter. She has no daughters. Only sons. So I figured she would treat me like a daughter but she doesn't. She's not mean to me but she makes no effort to spend time with me. My husband says his mom is just like that and she doesn't really like people. Yet she enjoys being around her kids. I just feel like you should see your son getting married as earning a daughter but she doesn't treat me like that. It's like I'm just a person who's with her son that she's nice to because I'm with her son. Not because she actually wants to love me for me. So part of me feels like she's signing while talking to have some sort of conversation that I can't understand. Would I be wrong to say I don't want any signing when I'm around? They can hear so idk why they have to sign and talk. That's shady.
