To have a C-section or not? Hep C
My ex husband was a carrier of Hep C. He was born with it. I didn't have it a few years ago during the pregnancy of my son but now I'm pregnant again and I tested positive. I'm freaking out!! We were married for 10 years and together for 12 and I had never contracted it. I must've contracted it one of the last times we were together. I'm now pregnant and I saw a MFM doctor who told me there's a 5% chance of my baby contracting it with a vaginal birth if there's no use of things like a vacuum or forceps during delivery. But IDK because 3 of 4 kids in my ex's family contracted it from their mother. So that seems more like a 75% chance to me. I'm really considering a C-section since it drops the percentage down to almost nothing. The MFM doctor thinks it's fine but I really don't want my child to possibly contract something from me that came from my horrible ex who was abusive and ruined my life. It would be just one more reminder of him. Most importantly I obviously want my child to be as healthy as possible. I will be getting the cure as soon as I deliver. It's already set up. My bf thankfully doesn't have it but he's going to have to get checked again after 6 months from when I was tested. We've been using protection since I got the results. If you were in my position would you get an elective C-section or would you trust the MFM doctor?
