I had a new pregnancy appointment today and this is a new OB I’m seeing since I moved to a new state. After getting to know me and my history, my ob said I would suggest you get your tubes tied after this baby. This is my 5th pregnancy, (3 living kids, 1 miscarriage). She said I’m “so young” (I’m 28) and that I should get my tubes tied after I have this baby and said she can do it for me after I’m done with this pregnancy.

No gyn/ob ever said this to me. Is it normal for them to be telling us this? She was a very straight forward, blunt doctor. I didn’t find her tone or opinions rude because she’s just a very blunt person it seems like but still, I know after this baby I probably don’t want to have anymore kids but getting tubes tied is a big deal.

I would like to add, we weren’t talking about future plans or future birth control. She gave this suggestion after she asked me how many times I been pregnant and how many kids I have.
