Apartment Challenge 😩

Hello everyone! I’m a first time mommy to a 8 month old boy and I was wondering if anyone has gone through being ripped off by an apartment & how did they go about it. So I am dealing with my first apartment collection, I had to break my lease early due to the apartment not being right (bedbug infestation and broken ac/heater) and the leasing manager tried to blame me for the bedbugs which is ridiculous cause I didn’t cause it & was only in the apartment briefly. I had to trash so many items from the bedbugs.I was given a statement saying I owed $3k for the next month rent, utilities and forced renters insurance and bedbug treatment. I complained multiple times that I had my own renters insurance with State Farm since the day before I moved in & uploaded proof but they still trying to charge me for it . They’re trying to also charge me $500 for the bedbug treatment which wasn’t caused by me. I’ve been trying to reach out to the higher management team again but I haven’t heard back from them yet. It’s been two weeks since I started emailing them (the leasing agent wouldn’t give me the number for them). If anyone went through this how did you go through with it? I am trying to get this matter resolved asap because it’s hindering me from getting another place for me & my infant. 💙
