Metformin and pcos

Is anyone taking metformin for PCOS? After my last baby a year ago my periods were horrible I bled every other week. I have had a diagnosis of PCOS for around 15 years. I had all my labs and ultrasound done. It was suggested I start metformin to help my prediabetic problem and that could be an issue for me as well as I gained a lot of weight and was 313 lbs.

I've been on metformin for four weeks and everyday I have an upset stomach and diarrhea. I gradually increased my dosage but my symptoms have been the same. I lost almost ten lbs in that time. I workout and I have been eating all the right foods. I only drink one coffee and water all day. The side effects though are making my life so complicated as I'm not able to leave the bathroom for large portions of my day.

Good news is I haven't had a period for eleven days so obviously things are improving.

I have a message to my doctor and I'm just wondering if anyone else has any pointers with metformin or did you work through the side effects for a couple months before you adjusted?
