Would you let him keep the money?

My boyfriend of 3 years lost his job a couple months ago. He’s been applying for nearly everything and been to several interviews and nothing still. He’s found side hustles and ways to make money since he does have a son. About a month ago, he asked me to borrow $300 and he’ll pay me back “a week later”. First I was hesitant because he does coparent, so I thought his first option would’ve been his son’s mother since the money was for his training. Eventually, I sent it because his mother is sometimes difficult and doesn’t contribute to his sports activities since my boyfriend is the one who makes him play.

I gave it two weeks before I asked for it back, nothing. I recently asked him again but he didn’t have it. Now, I’ve just been thinking to let it go and let him keep it since was is for his son, he doesn’t have consistent income, and before he lost his job- he paid for everything regarding our relationship.

Would you let your s/o keep $300 they asked to borrow under these circumstances?
