Scared to tell him I have genital herpes

I’ve gotten genital herpes in the past and I think my current boyfriend has it. He started with dryness around the tip and now he has like a sore on the side of it it’s only one and it looks like a scab that’s drying up. I’m his first girlfriend but he has had one other partner in his life which was a one night stand. We talked last night and he asked if I’ve always gotten checked after my relationships I said yes but I didn’t tell him I have anything wrong with me. As far as he’s concerned he doesn’t know what it is. I mean we both don’t get but I’m so afraid to tell him I have this. Knowing I wasn’t upfront in the first place. Since I wasn’t exactly honest and upfront I almost want to tell him I didn’t get checked with the last guy I was with because he said he was okay and then we can both find out together we might have it if I passed it on to him? I trust him and he’ll be okay but to tell this very sweet innocent guy this breaks my heart. The fact someone gave it to me and now possibly he can get it 😣
