First fertility appt

Hello, so I have had a salpingectomy in December of last year due to a cyst and I have struggled to conceive for about 3 years now. I am 33 and FH is 39. I know that I am part of the issue. But my FH Also contributes as he is a moderate drinker and enjoys his super hot baths and is a smoker. But he is convinced that it isn’t him 🙄 does anyone know what to expect at the first appt. When does the FH have to get their testing done so I can atleast know how much we are going to struggle.
