Is this normal or just me?

So for my last 3 babies I’ve had female providers. This baby, I have a male provider. I like him, he’s professional and nice. I’m considering asking for a membrane sweep at my 38 week appointment (I’m 37 weeks currently), but I feel so awkward thinking of him doing that and seeing me down there?! I know that sounds CRAZY bc he’s my OB and I obviously know he’s going to see me down there in labor lol. Does anyone else feel this way?? Like I don’t want to ask for the membrane sweep bc I’ll feel awkward? And again he hasn’t done anything to make me feel uncomfortable, it’s just me. Anyone else??
*I want to add: I don’t want to switch providers. I have type 1 diabetes and have a rather complicated history. My previous midwife recommended this OB and he’s open to letting me do things more naturally than other providers will, which is very important to me.

I think a lot of people aren’t comfortable with male providers, for lots of reasons. There are 3 in the practice I go to and I find them all to be arrogant and not as smart as the 8 women. I don’t think it’s normal for you to have gone this long with him to only now think about him being between your legs though, that’s typically how the baby exits, what did you think would happen? At this point it’s going to be too late to switch providers unless your office has a lot like mine.

I should’ve said in my post, but I don’t want to switch providers. I have a rather complex history and have type 1 diabetes and my midwife from my last birth recommended this OB and I don’t want to switch.

All you have to do is call the office and ask for an appointment with a female provider 🙂. They understand

I had my 36 week appointment schedule with a male provider. I had seen him a few times but he didn't sit well with me. I tried to brush it off and then i saw him one more time before that 36 week check and he seemed scared to touch me. Didn't measure my stomach didn't listen to the baby. Then gave me the interrogation when i refused something. I decided to switch to a different doctor for the 36 week one which would have been my.group b swab and my first internal exam. But I've had a male preform that appointment in the past and though i wasnt 100% happy with it they didn't rub me the wrong way the way this particular doctor did. If your not uncomfortable with him maybe ask the nurse to tell him you'd like the sweep. But if he's going to deliver you id look at it as a trial run to see how you feel with him being in that position
